Hobart United was formed in 2002.

2003 - Joined Southern Division 2 competition.

2004 - Won the Division 2 without losing a game and gained
promotion to Division 1.

2005 - Won Division 1 and promotion to Premier League.

2006 - Failed to win a single game in the Premier League
and relegated back to Division 1.

2008 - Division 1 champions again, but lose in place-off to
Newtown Eagles for promotion to Premier League.

2011 – Disaster! Discovered $10,000 owed FFT (Football Federation Tasmania) that they didn’t know about. Club President at the time
disappears, no one knows where. There is a mass exodus of players
from the club as the future looks doubtful. Moses Otto takes over as President and the debt is paid off by a local businessman of South
African origin.

Since this time the club’s first team results have been mediocre but
club membership levels have built up again as the club has focused on building it’s junior program.
New rules were introduced for admission to the Premier League
in 2012/13 which required clubs to have teams at all age levels in girls
and boys divisions. Some members complained that eligibility to the
Premier League was not about ability any more but just about ticking
the right boxes, but he club has working to meet these requirements
ever since.
